I am Joseph Leyva...the founder of (Respiratory and Medical Services) RAMS Medical, a respiratory therapist for over 30 years with experience in all aspects of respiratory care, durable, medical supplies, equipment and services. Our corporate mission is to bring dependable, competent and responsive home medical services to South Central Alaska building on our many years of experience in health in the Greatland.
RAMS Medical Found that many local clients and others wishing to travel to and through the northern frontier state do not know about what medical options are available to enhance their day to day experience, opportunities and quality of life. Clients who choose RAMS Medical will find that we in Alaska can provide a higher level of medical service than they are used to and many more services than is available in other states. Products
RAMS Medical specializes in easy to use reliable oxygen systems that afford light weight portability. Most of the portable systems that are carried weigh less than eight pounds when filled and are combined with an oxygen conserving device (OCD) to decrease the loss and prolong use before refill. With a one liter flow of oxygen per minute by nasal cannula, a portable system can last up to twelve hours, plenty enough time to support an adventurous outgoing or a visit to the doctor's office and shopping before exchanging tanks. The transfilling unit system fills up a unit (or other portable provided) while you are out or it can last up to twenty-four hours at one liter per minute if two small portables are taken with you.

How to Get Started
RAMS Medical will make it easy to set-up oxygen and other medical equipment for you, your family, your friends or home health assistant. Contact RAMS and tell us your needs. You may choose to write, call or to email us to send us your inquiry.
Since all oxygen orders require a doctor's prescription your attending physician can send a facsimile to our office (our fax number is 1-907-345-7969). If you plan to travel to Alaska have your doctor's office FAX your prescription for oxygen with your itinerary to our office. The necessary equipment is on reserve, ready to greet you, wherever you are in Alaska.
When sending RAMS Medical your prescription for medical equipment make sure a statement of medical need is included identifying all medically necessary equipment and supplies you require. Such as a wheelchair, oxygen or other medical supplies. It is imperative that you plan ahead; include your physician's prescription and itinerary to RAMS Medical at least four weeks ahead of your planned travel. This will assure that you have the medical equipment and supplies to meet your needs.

RAMS Medical customizes each system and accessories to meet the client's individual needs at home or during travel in Alaska. If traveling ask us for a quote; RAMS Medical will develop an estimate of medical equipment, supplies and anticipated costs to meet the itinerary and request you submit.
Pricing
Cost will vary according to your need, extent of travel, amount of equipment, etc. Most major insurances like Medicare and some 3rd party insurers set allowables for an already procured item (like your oxygen concentrator) so may refuse to extend reimbursement to what they consider an excess, like a portable oxygen concentrator to travel, leaving you responsible for any incurred expense. Inquire about your coverage as you plan your travel to avoid the surprise of an unexpected bill.
When making reservations RAMS Medical accepts checks for the deposit to hold your prearranged equipment up to thirty days prior to travel. Although RAMS Medical keeps a large stock of medical equipment on hand, we encourage at least a thirty-day advance reservation to insure availability and smooth access. This timing allows for RAMS Medical to negotiate any difficulties with documentation and to contact your doctor or your insurer.
